Taylor Reimer on Racing ARCA, Overcoming Criticism, and Building a Future in Motorsports

Taylor Reimer on Racing ARCA, Overcoming Criticism, and Building a Future in Motorsports

Taylor Reimer has become a familiar name in the racing world, and for good reason. With roots in Oklahoma dirt racing and a growing presence in ARCA and late model competition, Taylor is carving out her own path in motorsports with determination, honesty, and heart.

On this episode of the Women’s Motorsports Network Podcast, Taylor joined Melinda Russell for a conversation that was equal parts inspiring and real. She shared the story of how she first got behind the wheel, what brought her back to racing after years away, and what it’s like to pursue a motorsports career while carrying the pressure of performance, public scrutiny, and the responsibility of being a role model.

A Racing Start in Oklahoma

Taylor’s racing story began when her dad put her in a go-kart at just seven years old. Racing was already in her family’s blood. Her dad had competed in everything from BMX bikes to drag cars to dirt cars, and before long Taylor was racing at her local track and winning.

She eventually moved into dirt racing at Port City Raceway in Oklahoma, where she found success in junior sprints and restricted classes. At that stage, racing was something fun she did with her dad and family. It was serious in effort, but not yet envisioned as a long-term career path.

A Pause That Changed Everything

Like many young athletes, Taylor’s path was not perfectly linear. She stepped away from racing and spent her high school and college years focused on cheerleading, academics, and campus life. She attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in health and exercise science with a minor in business.

Then during college, everything changed.

When Taylor went back to Port City during the COVID era and got the chance to practice a midget for a team started by someone she had known growing up, the spark came back instantly. After years away from racing, she realized how much she missed it and how much she still wanted it.

That moment led to a renewed racing journey, first in midgets and then eventually in pavement racing after she moved to North Carolina to join the Toyota Development Program.

Moving to North Carolina and Starting Over

Taylor described moving to North Carolina by herself as a major leap. Even though she was older and out of college, it was still a big adjustment. But she knew that if she wanted to make racing her career, North Carolina was where she needed to be.

Since then, she has raced limited late models, late model stock cars, and ARCA, while continuing to chase every opportunity she can create. Her journey shows that there is no single “right” timeline in motorsports. Every driver’s path is different, and Taylor’s willingness to return to the sport and rebuild from there makes her story especially powerful.

The Reality of Racing Under Pressure

One of the most meaningful parts of this conversation was Taylor’s honesty about the emotional side of racing.

She talked about the criticism that can follow a tough weekend, especially as a female driver in a sport where public perception can be quick and unforgiving. After a difficult ARCA race at Phoenix that resulted in her first DNF in the series, Taylor found herself facing backlash online.

But rather than letting that define her, she shared something important: people outside the car often do not understand what actually happens in those moments. Racing decisions are made in fractions of a second, and wrecks can happen too fast to avoid.

Taylor’s response was mature, thoughtful, and strong. She spoke about leaning on her family, her significant other, and the people who truly know her. She also shared how important it is to step away from social media when necessary and protect your peace.

Being a Role Model Matters

Although Taylor says she wants to be seen simply as a driver, she also understands that being a woman in motorsports carries a deeper meaning for the next generation.

She knows young girls are watching. She knows representation matters. And she wants to be someone they can look up to, not just because of results, but because of how she handles the hard days too.

That mindset is one of the reasons she continues pushing forward. Hearing from young girls who see her as a role model is one of the most rewarding parts of her career.

The Business Side of Racing

Taylor also spoke openly about sponsorship and how important it is to keeping her career moving. Racing at a high level requires funding, and she has worked hard to build relationships with partners who believe in her.

She highlighted BuzzBallz Cocktails, which has supported her for five years, and Fre, a new partner this season. Taylor explained how meaningful it is to work with brands that understand her journey and want to grow alongside her.

Her comments were a good reminder that sponsorship is not just about logos on a car. It is about creating value, telling stories, building visibility, and connecting with fans in ways that drive awareness for brands.

Life Outside the Car

Off the track, Taylor stays grounded with routine, fitness, family, dogs, and everyday life. She talked about her love of working out, staying active, walking her dogs, and finding balance amid a demanding schedule.

That balance matters. Racing is intense, and burnout is real. Taylor understands the value of making time for herself and protecting her energy outside the sport.

What’s Ahead

Taylor shared that her current schedule includes ARCA races, dirt races, and a Legends car race on the Charlotte Roval to gain more road course experience. She is continuing to look for sponsorship so she can add late model races and stay in the seat as much as possible.

Her focus is clear: keep improving, keep learning, and keep moving forward.

Final Thoughts

Taylor Reimer’s story is about more than racing. It is about resilience, self-belief, and finding the courage to return to something you love. It is about handling criticism with grace, chasing opportunity with purpose, and continuing to build something meaningful even when the road is hard.

She is a talented racer, a thoughtful ambassador for the sport, and a strong example for the girls coming behind her.

This is exactly the kind of story that deserves to be told.
