From the Racetrack to Viral Success: The Story Behind Save the Girls

From the Racetrack to Viral Success: The Story Behind Save the Girls

Women in motorsports know what it’s like to juggle everything at once — phones, keys, wallets, race schedules, kids, cameras, snacks, pit passes, and more. That’s why this week’s episode of the Women’s Motorsports Network Podcast felt like the perfect fit.

Host Melinda Russell welcomed Tammy and Elizabeth, the mother-daughter team behind Save the Girls, a company that has created innovative touchscreen purses and phone accessories designed specifically for busy women.

The business began after Tammy’s daughters both lost their phones in the same week while horseback riding and washing clothes. At the same time, a family member battling breast cancer shared that she always kept her phone tucked into her bra because women’s clothing often lacks pockets.

That moment changed everything.

Tammy realized there had to be a better solution. She designed a touchscreen purse that allowed women to text, call, and use their phones without removing them from the bag. Soon after, Save the Girls was born.

What makes the company even more meaningful is its mission. Save the Girls donates a portion of profits to breast cancer research and has already contributed more than $160,000 to the American Cancer Society.

During the podcast, Tammy shared the bold leap she took to launch the business — quitting a 25-year corporate marketing career, traveling overseas to meet manufacturers, and building the company from scratch.

Elizabeth later joined the company full-time, helping expand the brand through social media, viral marketing, and product innovation. Today, their Clip N Go phone crossbody products have exploded in popularity with travelers, sports fans, moms, and women constantly on the move.

The episode also explored entrepreneurship, family business dynamics, social media marketing strategies, and the importance of women supporting women in business.

For motorsports fans, these products are especially useful at the racetrack — allowing fans and racers to safely carry their phones while capturing race day memories hands-free.

This episode is a reminder that great ideas often come from everyday problems — and that sometimes the biggest risks lead to the greatest rewards.
